Bob Chandler awarded 2014 RH Worth Prize

Bob Chandler receiving the prize Bob Chandler, teacher, energetic specialist in Middle Jurassic ammonites, geological conservation enthusiast and our Club's President, was awarded this prize in 2014. It celebrates the practice and encouragement of geological science by and among amateurs.

A fossil first!

Cymothoidana websteri In 2014, Mike Webster, the Club's Field Trip Secretary, found a fossil at Keymer Tile Pit which has been identified as the first Wealden isopod to be discovered. It's dated to the late Hauterivian, about 129 million years ago and has been named Cymothoidana websteri after its discoverer.
